Annual Carolina Master Chorale educational concerts provide under-served students with the opportunity to participate in high-level performances of great choral music. The Master Chorale also provides community service throughout the year with free outreach concerts in retirement communities and appearances at civic functions, including the community Christmas Tree lighting, Easter Sunrise services and the South Carolina Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. These venues help

to elevate the visibility of cultural activities available on the Grand Strand. Education and exposure to the arts are an invaluable asset in building and maintaining a level of excellence expected in our tourism environment.

Carolina Youth Chorale

The jewel of the Carolina Master Chorale's educational program is the Carolina Youth Chorale, a high school honor choir for Horry County's most talented student vocal musicians.

Formed in 2002 under the aegis and full support of the Master Chorale, the Carolina Youth Chorale provides a marvelous opportunity for its members to perform with a symphony orchestra in such performances as the Beethoven Mass In C. Their recent participation at the Disneyworld Candlelight Service, and Holiday Voices and Holiday Brass in December and Mendelssohn's Elijah (with the Master Chorale), illustrate the range of performance opportunities created for the youth chorale. For these students, the Carolina Youth Chorale not only augments their cultural education, but the impact of this organization may plant the seed of a lifelong passion for the performing arts.

The CMC offers a scholarship for the most outstanding graduating senior of the youth chorale. The “Musical Promise" scholarship is another example of the CMC commitment to education.
